India is one of the few countries which have more than fifty dialects and languages. Coupled with a vibrant cultural tapestry, which is varied in every department including the clothes and attire also. Fashion has always remained an integral part of the human civilization and excavation of ancient civilizations has shown that the people of those times were very conscious about fashion. With the integration of the world economy have also influenced the Indian fashion industry.

One of the most important characteristics of the Indian fashion and style is its ability to assimilate the foreign ideas without changing the base Indianess of the attires. The saris and the salwar kameez look may have changed but in the basic designs have not been altered. The blouses have been changes substantially which includes innovation such as high neck, back button, katori style, halter-neck, puffed sleeve blouses, etc. The length of the blouses have increased and decreased according to trends in the fashion scene. Fashion in India has been largely influenced by Bollywood and what is worn by the Hero and Heroines on the top gets lapped up by an ever eager public.
