Be bold with family and friends

Hello,

It takes a bold person to challenge family members and friends to make better decisions and to confront her own character flaws. A bold person shines the light on wrongdoing and makes others uncomfortable with injustice. Demonstrations of boldness inspire others to stand for correct behavior. Follow the steps to become bold with friends and family.
Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Teach Children to Be Bold
1.
1

Talk with children about relationships, alcohol and drugs. Be available when needed.
2.
2

Establish and enforce rules so children know boundaries.
3.
3

Give each child responsibility. Teach him how to make good decisions. Help children face consequences of poor choices.
4.
4

Be candid about your failures and the consequences of those failures.
5.
5

Praise the boldness of children when they stand for truth.
Refuse to Compromise
6.
1

Shun fear of speaking the truth.
7.
2

Keep your conscious clear.
8.
3

Prepare to stand alone.
9.
4

Remain humble when speaking.
10.
5

Be sure of your beliefs and reasons for those beliefs. Analyze new information and apply the new information to choices.
11.
6

Pre-plan how to respond to temptation that violate your principles. Select words carefully. Refuse to lift yourself and your values or to put others down. Keep explanations of your principles simple.
12.
7

Respond boldly to every situation. Consider opinions of critics, reevaluate your attitude, recheck facts and make necessary corrections when your viewpoint is rejected. Stand for right even if it means taking another position.
Family Concerns
13.
1

Explain reasons behind your family's standards so each member understands how to apply the principles.
14.
2

Step in to resolve conflict instead of waiting for problems to resolve themselves. Begin working things out even when doing so is uncomfortable or when you must get outside help.
15.
3

Look for a person who seeks truth and helps you by using compassion and integrity, when you need advice or counsel.
16.
4

Let your family and friends know you're available to help and that you support them when they take a stand for what is right.

Bye
